Just a thought on identification

Post by mr smokey » Fri Jan 22, 2021 8:04 am

Hey folks (particularly locals), prompted by a recent report from a member who "met a forum member on the water and exchanged catches" etc perhaps a photo of your boat may assist in recognising others who may be out there at the time?

I will start the ball rolling if anyone is interested. Blue/white Whittley Monterey 600 "Serendipity". If you spot me give me a hoy :) :)

Haines Hunter 460 SLR. This is the old rego, the boat came from NSW.

I dont fish the Gippsland area though. I mostly launch at Newport or Werribee. And i plan i give Altona a go too.

Promised to sell the old boat before buying the new one (a year ago) but that didnt happen so I can be seen afloat now and then in either of these. Both quite distinctive: older Quintrex Fishabout and more recent RaeLine 186. Be warnerd though, that any attempt to engage in conversation will result in you becoming the Listener! :-D

This is the best pic I have on my phone. Nothing glamorous about my boat. Quintrex. 30hp 3cylinder 2stroke Yamaha. Distinctive boat collar. Usually looks like it needs a good scrub down to get the fish scales and crud off. Driven by grey haired bald old fart.

There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.

I might not have a boat, but for anyone that finds themselves fishing St Leonards Pier look for the red esky, always keen to have a friendly chat. haha
Shouldn't be too hard, I'm always in the same spot between the first two exposed pylons.
