Paynesville report.

Post by ango » Fri Apr 12, 2024 3:29 pm

Fished out of Paynesville this am, at first for whiting, I motored across to Woolaston bay, then after many moves I finished at the sandflats off Sperm Whale head. Not a bite anywhere, Carstairs, Sth of Raymond island all very quiet, so a change of target, I put away the whiting rods and got out the SP gear chasing flathead, again, same result, not a bite. Regardless of the fishing it was a nice day on the water, I saw a sea eagle get one of those small black water birds that seem to be everywhere ATM.
Cheers.

Ditto the above minus the Eagle and move to SWH. Instead headed towards Metung after a fruitless search of Wollaston Bay. Found the birds and tailor around the big red marker bouy on the approach to Metung and pretty much bagged out drifting with a simple silver lure in a couple of hours. Threw half back but good fun on a sunny day nonetheless. Several fish going 43 ish and around 1kg I reckon. All donated as I am not a fan of em and still have a few KGW fillets cryovaced and frozen down
