Tooloondo

Post by Birdman » Mon Jun 17, 2013 9:28 pm

Spent a few pleasant hours on the water at Tooloondo today. Lots of fish on the rise in morning and evening. Alternated between trolling, bait and casting. No fish boated but dropped 2 browns just out of net reach  . Both on trolled rapala trout pattern. Also had several bumps but fish just not really on the chew. No action at all from the Redfin fraternity. All in all, a far better day than being at work. :set1_fishing:

Didn't launch at caravan park barra mick, used the one at north end of lake, easy launch of 4mt boat there, can still get thru to south end of lake by sneaking thru on west side, shallow but still about a meter deep and quite safe of you go slow and keep an eye out. I reckon from what we saw the other day that fly fishos would have a good day out!

A long long way from the water. The Lakes capacity has been re-rated. The old 50 % is the new full and at the moment it's somewhere around 37 % of that.

so is it useable at the moment ? or is it a dirt track that backs into the water ?

cheers bm

That I can't help you with, when I checked it out last year there were tracks disappearing into trees, no water in sight. Whether any of those tracks would get you to the waters edge I don't know. I've spoken to people using the Northern ramp who were camping at the park so I'd assume from this there is little or no access from the park.
The Northern ramp is pretty good, the water is below the concrete but they have been dropping coarse gravel for a solid base as the level drops.
