Disappointing channel outing

Post by davek » Sun Sep 22, 2019 4:31 pm

I decided to check out the channel again and found it running better than last time there. I started flicking a Jackal TN50 around and after 5 or 6 casts I heard a fish splash at the bank about 20mts down. I was thinking it was a big carp but cast the lure down there, nothing, so another cast and bang just as the lure hit the water. the fish started jumping and running and I finally got it back to me, a 60+cm Brown Trout. I didn't have my net with me but managed to get lip grips on it but they weren't going to hold so I tried to get a better grip and bang, with a shake of the head he cut the leader on the rocks and gone. Now swimming free apart from the TN50 in his gob. 2 more hrs.' on the channel for not one fish, :( cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Bugger! Heart in mouth kinda stuff. Would have been a good fish by the sounds of it Davo.
Is a trout a bit of an odd encounter in those channels?
