Cod country trip

Delayed report - trip circa 13-14 Jan 2020. Had some time off midweek to catch up with a mate for a cod session in NE Vic. Typical fishing, so hard to get the available time lined up with conditions - the session was planned for about 2 months but ended up falling into a week or so after the bushfire havoc and subsequent downpour of rain that came after. Rivers weren't too dirty, but fishing was certainly slow.
I came up a day early to do some recon in the area for future trips and ended up fishing one of the new spots. The output for about 9hrs fishing was one small cod that took a squidgy 5" soft plastic on the drop. The night was absolutely silent with no signs of life.
The next day met up with said mate and we started the walk in about 4pm and didnt get back to camp until almost 12hrs and 20km of walking later. We ended up with two each to hand (and two missed boofs each), which was a little bit slower than expected and the size of the cod wasnt there, but nonetheless, still fish to hand and a good night out that entailed a few days of recovering from the walking. Both of mine taken on the surface right at the feet.
Cheers, Chris
