On that subject fish in NSW, drive into vic, are you then governed by vic regulations as to possession ? i would say yes. do you need a vic licence to possess fish caught in another state and brought into vic ? as i always dont renew vic licence when due i wait until i know i am fishing in vic. Have a great trip/camp look foward to the banter on here.

You don not need a Victorian license to hold fish taken in another state, according to Section 11 of the Fisheries Act 1995:

11 Application of this Act
(1) This Act applies to any fish, fishing bait, protected
aquatic biota or noxious aquatic species in
Victoria, regardless of its origin.
(2) However, a person does not commit any offence
under this Act by possessing or controlling any
fish, fishing bait or protected aquatic biota that
appears to be possessed or controlled, or to have
been taken, contrary to this Act if he or she can
prove that the fish, fishing bait or protected
aquatic biota—
(a) was not taken in Victoria; and
(b) was taken in accordance with the law of the
place where the fish, fishing bait or protected
aquatic biota was taken.

You would have to be able to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the fish were taken in NSW and enforcement officers could summons you and you would have to prove your case in court. This might not be easy.

The safest bet is to have a Victorian license if you possess fish in Victoria.
