Blue Rock Bass

Post by mazman » Sat Mar 14, 2020 5:15 pm

Distract yourself from the upcoming apocalypse or kill a bit of time in quarantine with a quick vid on catching bass at blue rock

This trip is from a little while ago, when the fires were still at their worst in Gippsland so I decided instead of hitting the rivers further east that were still under threat I would head to Blue Rock to scratch the bass itch. I haven't fished there many times before so it was a bit of fun exploring and trying to find some fish for my first solo fish there.

No, just looked for areas that had what I was looking for. I didn't see fish on the sounder anywhere that I caught fish, presumably because they were in small groups around structure where it is very easy to miss fish on the sounder even with sidescan

Interesting. Im yet to get a sounder for my yak so do much the same as you did for varying success. The podcast on Bluerock by Doc Lures Ben sounds up areas to fish the jigs.

Listened to that one yesterday, I went in there and pretty much just made it up as I went. Would have liked to have heard what Ben had to say prior to going.

I hooked a heavy fish on the jig yesterday arvo it busted me off as a consolation I got a couple off the surface. Really working on improving my jig game will try again tomorrow arvo I hope.
