A fishing report for a change

I headed out to the local this evening to do a bit of bait/burley collecting for the coming warmer months. I wasn't sure what I'd get but figured a bit of burley, some chicken and some pilchard under floats should see me catch something for the vac sealer. As it happened it was salmon and some small yakkas, I had to downsize the hooks before I landed any of the yakkas but as I wasn't planning on eating them the size didn't worry me. The salmon were between 25-30cm. I gave one of the yakkas to a bloke who was setting up to spend the night snapper fishing, might be a bit early for them but you never know. He had a favorable wind at least.

Nice one, sometimes taking it easy collecting bait is just as fun as the session you plan to use the bait on. I’m doubting I could even catch bait at the moment going by my last few trips. Hopefully my luck will improve as the temp increases. It’s good to see more reports being posted, keep them coming

A little mushy but as long as there’s a bit of skin to put the hook through it’s ok.

Yeah, no pressure to catch much compared to actually targeting something.

There’s probably a few squid about as well as gars - not that I’d know because I’m still **** at gars
