Mixed bag from the bay

Hi everyone, yesterday I went fishing with a few mates at Cunningham pier in Geelong. The fishing started slow but then I caught a nice 35cm flathead on an eco gear Zx blade. About 1 hr later one of my mates caught a 31 cm sand whiting on pipi, and another 20 minutes later I had one hell of a fight with a 31 cm pinkie on my light bream gear. Later we decided to go to the Eastern beach swimming enclosure to have a fish of the back and maybe a quick swim. I picked some mussels off the bottom of the pier and then used them as bait while my mates used chicken. Straightaway I hooked a small bream about 23 cm. After that I caught 1 more similar bream while my mates had no bites. Suddenly both of my mates were on. They winched it up and to everyone’s surprise it was a nice sized flatty! 2 mins later my mate caught a nice KG whiting if 31 cm. We all had a great feed last night!

I did wonder. Seen lots of pics of fish caught there and even on YouTube but the sign clearly says no fishing. Read somewhere that you can fish on the outside of it but not on the inside, so now totally confused. Clarification would be appreciated.
I'm guessing the no fishing sign is a big clue though.

Think that's pretty obvious. Looking to find out exactly what the regs are there. Didn't see the need to start a new thread.

A lot of good places to fish has a no fishing sign and it's safe to say that if you follow the signs then you'd have nothing to worry about, but unlike others I sometimes fish the area despite reading the sign. Just ignorance on my end but cowboys sometimes have to pay the price if caught I guess. I do know that Cunningham pier has no fishing written all over the side of the pier but it hasn't stop all the fisho that frequent that spot, just respect the area and don't leave trash otherwise more no fishing signs will be posted in all our favourite spots. :ch:
