All Quiet On The Western Front

Hi all, spent a beautiful day on the water at Clifton Springs looking for an early season Snapper or a Gummy but unfortunately I didn't get a sniff. There was a decent Snapper frame in the shallows at the ramp which was inspiring but late morning through to late afternoon's probably not the ideal time. It was however nice and relaxing being out on the boat again. I tried a few different drop-offs along the edge of the shipping channel but all I could find were tiny Flatties greedy enough to swallow 4/0 Gamma's and Starfish. Back at the ramp the few people I spoke to didn't get a touch either.

Seems a great day out Trumpy, wish I was there, no I truly mean, wish I was there. No sniffs are fine with me, makes the first red a Trophy when it does come.

Absolutely love the Ol'School touch with the alvey, too.

That Ship cruising though like a gentle giant was awesome. At Whyalla here in SA, we get a few ships cruising through too. We fish mostly at night there and as best as we can we try avoiding shipping lanes but sometimes there is that uncertainty. Always a few discussions on deck as one approaches and at night with lights it's hard to see where they are tracking. But all sweet.

It did look like a day to be on the water even though the fish in the water never got the memo :(

Cheers, Bugatti

Bad luck trumpeter I am bringing my boat back to portarlington Wednesday after fitting the new anchor winch. The weather doesn’t look to flash after Wednesday. Hopefully I will get a chance to get out on the water

Looks like it was a beautiful day to be on the water mate.
I too have been looking for my first early season red but no luck yet unfortunately.
Hopefully we both have some luck soon! :)
Cheers :tu:

I must have driven past you trump, I fished for squad from Avalon through to Clifton springs then on to Grassy point...with only 8 small ones to show for it! Was definitely a tough day all round by the looks of it

Yeah I've got to get a winch installed asap, it's a real PITA hauling the anchor in my boat.

That's a fair bit of travelling, the squid have been quiet at CS for a while now. What boat do you have, I might of seen you?
