Slow day of portarlington

Post by Nude up » Fri Jul 31, 2020 6:10 pm

With good weather and light winds forecast my son decided to come fishing. He is not really a fisherman he only comes to keep me company and the promise of chips at half time.

We headed up to grassy point and drifted for squid I was on fire 1 squid first cast. A few more drifts And we were getting small to medium some that small we let them go. At one stage as I was reeling one in another followed it but as my son dropped his jig it scooted off.

I flicked my jig in poured a coffee as I picked my rod up and lifted it went hard I thought I had snagged the bottom but suddenly it was off pulse pulse line peeling off eventually it came to the boat and it was a cracker the biggest I had caught at grassy point normally I would expect one this size at queenscliff

As the tide turned it went quiet so we moved to Prince George bank and drifted for flathead only 3 over 30cm at 3pm we decided to give it away. Back at the ramp cleaning the catch I got some nice comments of the size of the squid.
