St Leonards Pier Calamari - 19/01/2021

Post by Andrews » Wed Jan 19, 2022 6:08 pm

Hey everyone,

Quick update from the St Leonards Pier and it's calamari, or should I say, lack of calamari.
We've pretty poor conditions with either strong winds, or east winds turning the water a muddy brown.

Fished Sunday 16 Evening 5:30-7:30PM, run in tide, full moon, clear water

Super quiet session, managed two calamari, one smaller, on bigger.
The bigger one I spotted it's movement over the weed bed, flicked the jig nearby with three slack lined whips and the squid took the bait.
Saw another 1 caught, pier is super clean with little to no fresh ink.

Poor as!

I think we have different interpretations of crap fishing. Lol.
One or two squid in two hours is a good fishing for me, lol.

haha! It's the winds, they're driving me crazy!
These constant E winds every fortnight has the water either clean or mud brown, no middle ground. Water has been dirty since Tuesday and will stay that way till at least next Wednesday at best. Sucks!

Decent catch mate!

I know what you mean, when the conditions are not right and nature is against you, it is definitely very frustrating.

Yeah maybe! I went to the barwon the other day on dusk, landed 4 trevally over 45, dropped another 2. Might try that again.
