Couldn't resist going fishing today but the cold start by the time I had got out of what I was supposed to be doing hitched the boat fueled it and got to Clifton Springs it was 1030. I was by myself today so I just headed out the harbour till I hit 4mt and started drifing back towards land I had 3 squid in quick succession then 2 drifts nothing on the 3rd as I lifted my rod it just stopped I thought I was snagged but then it started pulling line pulsing away an absolute cracker 38cm for the hood I was happy with that then nothing.
Plan b I had brought some bait so headed out passed the mussel farm 10 mt anchored and berleyed up loads of small flathead I managed 1 at 32cm.
By now the tide had turned so I headed back to Clifton Springs hoping the squid would be biting again yep got my last 6 in 2 drifts. The rod in my hand took 9, I had 2 rods trailing which only managed 1 just shows working your jig pays off.
My neighbour had offered to come to the ramp and back my trailer in to make it easy on the retrieval he turned up at 330 another great day on the water no wind and 17 degrees.
