Portarlington 22nd

Post by Nude up » Sat Sep 24, 2022 7:00 am

A bit late this one took an old workmate out on Thursday he wanted some flathead. We just drifted off port out past the channel in around 12mt. loads of small flathead we ended up with 12 sizes 30cm to 38cm . Around lunchtime we headed to grassy point there must have been 30 boats near the mussel farm fishing for whiting I weaved my way through them slowly on getting to grassy point my drift was way to quick I couldn't be bothered putting the drouge out anyway suddenly my trailing jig rod started to bend I thought it had snagged the bottem I picked it up it was solid I was starting to hold the reel point the rod and pull to snap it off when it started to move jerking I though if this is a squid it's huge I eventually got it to the boat and it was a cuttle fish.
We headed back to the ramp around 130 to beat the rush
