Hey everyone,

I'm sharing a quick report from a soft bait session this-morning at St Leonards Pier and christening my rod/reel on some snapper.
Details:
Fished 7:30 - 8:30am, run-in high tide, dirty water, overcast, NNE winds, 30km/hr.
Ran 3/0 kl, with local squid thawed.

It was really enjoyable to get out, saw a few smaller pinkies caught within the shallows while the wood section was most productive with bigger fish. Saw maybe 6 total caught. Had a few smaller pinkies touching the bait.

First half an hour caught this pan sized fish, measured 47cm - then later a 38cm kgw, before the rain set in and called it quits.
Have the week off work so keen to get a few more.

Cheers

Solid report mate, nice pan size pinky. I was there yesterday arvo and I couldn't get a spot, it was packed and I got told off by a few for trying to throw a squid jig between them. Only landed 2 small squids before I pulled the pin. I've never seen the pier with fishos on both side back to back all the way down. It was insane, can't enjoy fishing like that. Anyways, enjoy the feed mate good work

Cheers Kenle,
Yeah, I heard that it was shocking yesterday with the amount of people.
Maybe this is just a taste of what schools holidays will be like haha.

That or it could be all the Facebook post of ppl catching big snappers. I travel to get away from the crowds but I might need to look for another location. 90% of those crowd were getting nothing and yet they've left rubish all over too. Such a hassle, I picked up a bag full of crap off the floor on my way back to the car. The bin provided at the bend was so full, rubbish was falling out and ppl still tried to squeeze more in.

Yeah, true. People do be grubby at the pier.
The beach there runs just as well as the pier, anywhere you've almost got a wash, or a drop off churning water. Bloke this-morning was catching pan sized fish in less than 1m. That's definitely summer, always seem to bring home more rubbish than I make.
