Stream Trout and Snake Bites
Hey guys,
Just uploaded my latest video, had a great time fishing for trout but managed to go way closer than I'm comfortable with to being bitten by a tiger snake. Entirely my fault but it's definitely made me think about it a bit more.

Hope you enjoy watching
Cheers Alex

Thanks mate, been a long time since I fished this stretch but it's as good as I remember just a bit different.Sinsemilla wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2020 8:03 pmWhat a beautiful little river. Nice work Alex

Re: Stream Trout and Snake Bites
Many years ago I was walking along the Goulburn river looking for a clear area to have a spin, the track I was on was a narrow section made by cattle ?
Flanked on one side by a steep cliff face and the other the river, as I walked along I noticed something Glistening up ahead on the track, as I got closer it was two Large tiger snakes intertwined, I guess they were mating ?
I stopped dead on the spot when realizing what they were up to, I was about 15 feet away, as I turned slowly to walk the other way out of the corner of my eye noticed the snakes started to head towards me at a fast walking pace !
I decided to head up the face of the steep cliff face thinking that would slow them down ( stupid ? ) when I got to the top I was shaking, This encounter has scared me for life !
If I fish fresh water now it's always lakes with plenty of cleared ground, Snake proof waders or Gaiters I feel is a minimum required for anyone fishing thick bush, It's not the snakes you do see it's the ones you don't ! till it's to late and realise you've been bitten.

Re: Stream Trout and Snake Bites
Yeah always a bit nerve wracking.
I was fishing a trout river a few years ago and was crossing a laydown as I crossed a mate warned me of a tiger a few metres ahead. Then out from the side another came charging at us. Flicked it with the rod tip as we hauled ass backwards and it stopped. I always thought snakes gtfo’d with the sound of humans. Not the case with tigers
Stopped trout fishing in summer as a result haha
