Redfin locations in Melbourne's east

Post by ChrisD » Sun Feb 16, 2020 4:01 pm

G'day All
I went for a bit of a walk along the Yarra this afternoon and after all the recent rain it is up even higher, and running faster, making fishing it through my normal areas more than difficult.
So my attention has turned to maybe chasing some redfin in dams/lakes on the eastern side of town.....and maybe even yet again trying some lures.
However I have to admit I am no really not sure where to even begin.
Lilydale lake maybe
Rowville lakes - have not heard reports of redfin there.
Aura Vale - have had my heart broken many time there.

Not looking for anyone's secret hot spot locations - just wondering if anyone can suggest some other possibilities though?

Rowville lakes not worth the time. Tried both lakes with bait and lures at least 5 times with nothing to show for it. I haven't heard a report of anything from rowville lakes in yonks.

havent been to rowville lakes this summer but usually around 4pm til dusk on a hot day (30c) there is quite alot of reddies, in the main lake and the front lake, But seem to have more following my SP's in rather than biting...

I caught my PB reddie at Karkarook many years ago, not sure how it's fishing these days but I used to see plenty being caught by others. Apparently there's a few being caught in Yarrambat Lake as well.

Rowville lakes has redfin and now golden perch - i checked via Fishbrain and can see catches made in last couple of months.

Ftg quarry is another spot as well that produces them

Golden perch just went into Rowville in December. There's apparently also 23 Murray cod in there too... Fished it on Sunday for nothing. Seen and spooked a few decent fish around at night though.

With all due respect. Why are you going to travel to chase reddies which are 1) not known to be a good size in melbournes east and 2) just a **** fish to actually catch.

There’s some wicked other species to be had that will readily take lures and give a better fight.
