I've thought about it for a few days, singh
It doesn't matter why the sign is there, the fact is, it's there
The sign is "official", not something stuck up by a resident & should be obeyed
I'd suggest the other ponds you spoke of
I'm not having a go at you, but, just think about it in future
Cheers Gra

To be fair to the guy, going through everything Google throws up about the development there is nothing that says fishing in the wetland area is prohibited in any of the development plan or approval materials. Unlike somewhere like Waterways that explicitly states no fishing. So it's extremely likely the signs are as much use for enforcement as the marine park signs at Blairgowie pier that we all know mean nothing.

I suspect that the no fishing/wading/swimming sign is a public safety message as the water may be contaminated and the relevant authorities are discouraging people from coming in contact with it or eating fish that may not be safe to eat. I doubt you'll get too much trouble from anyone but mate change the title of the video/thread. Always best to fly under the radar when breaking the rules mate and be willing to cop the punishment on the chin if caught. If a member of the public challenges you just remember you're going to look like you're in the wrong whether you like it or not, no amount of legal babble about jurisdictions and authorities is going to change that. All the best anyway mate.
