Yarra River Carp 07/12/2024

Post by Charles7 » Mon Dec 09, 2024 10:03 pm

I dropped by the Yarra in the Kew area Saturday evening to enjoy the weather and soak some corn. A couple hours of this landed me a couple of carp, with one of them going 70+. This eclipsed my previous PB of 69cm, which had been my record for about the last 3 years. It took about 10 minutes to land, although I was being a bit overcautious with playing it out as I was only using 8lb line and didn't want it to snap at the bank with one last hurried run from the bugger. The smaller fish actually gave more of a fight but burnt itself out pretty quickly compared to the bigger fella who let me reel him in but kept darting away from me at the bank just as I was about to net it....

I've found the Yarra a particularly challenging place to fish - I've only ever pulled 2 out of there.

Well done on your efforts.

Solid work there mate!
I'm always impressed by the size carp can get!
