Anything will work as long as its heavy enough to hit the bottom. I'd go minimum weight required to hit the bottom if I were you

Dependant on your rod and line tbh. 4 oz should hold fine from memory. Most surf rods will Chuck that no problem. Take some plastic waste pipe for rod holders while fishing the breakwall
