Trip To Apollo Bay Tips

Hey All,

Going down to apollo bay for the week on the 16th and wondering whats the best fishing spots, havent been there for 10 years when i did i usually hooked up big salmon on the surf but ive forgotten all the spots.

You can catch salmon almost on all of the surf beaches. Mostly in winter though I think.
Haven't fished there for a while but the estuary systems should have bream. The rockwall should be good to fish too.

Thank you Sebb for the tips, I’m planning to go to Portland after Christmas,any good fishing spot @ Portland and surrounding areas? First time 🎣 there.

Lee breakwater is one of the best in Vic. Various species from mullet to shark and kingfish.
Hopkins river and Merri river are good for bream and EP, mullet, trout further upstream.
Glenelg is great for mulloway and bream.

From memory (40-50years ago), South of town is a beach with a channel running parallel to it. Could be in town now.

There's a pier in Apollo Bay? Lol
Was talking about the rocks sheltering the boat ramp and mooring boats.
