Thanks guys, I caught this at 8:30 but was on the beach before 7am.
Thanks for the advice on the size. I have to put them all back as the wife is a vegetarian so hopefully I get lucky one day and get one of Dougies 60cm horses. Look forward to seeing you on the beach some time.

Are you using a 10' 6" rod?

Nice fish mate, and very nicely released I might add. Your fish gave me the motivation to keep plugging away and try and bag my first Gunners salmon too. Today wasn't my day unfortunately; left the beach around 11am without a touch. Got to break in a new outfit though and very happy with it. Glorious day to be on the beach; shoulda packed the surfboard.

Mate that's a ripper first fish. Just for the record my 60 was 2.36 kg and was the inky fish over two I've hit there. Carl got one 2.98 last year. Puts a bit into perspective when you read "all salmon 2_3kg" on Facebook

Very nice mate! PB and first gunners samba... well done
I see in your pic, you changed your treble to a single normal hook.

For those who have changed over from treble to a single hook, does it matter if it's a normal non lure hook? As in the eye is in line to the actual hook compared to a normal hook that is perpendicular or faces the barb.
does this affect the hook up rate, or reduces snags?

Hey Phil, you can use normal hooks but your better if with lure singles. I use decoy inline jigging singles 2/0 in the surf and 4/0 in the rocks. When the Sambo are on the hookup rate doest really mater and its more about how fast you can unhook them and get another cast before the school moves on
