I have been looking for a new surf reel to go with a Timberwolf surf rod I have purchased. I bought one on ebay $139 delivered using a $10 voucher great value.
You're only level 3 on the Balarine peninsula, aren't you ???
Yes only level 3 going to the golf club for dinner tonight last time for a while. Just waiting for the weather to get better maybe later in the week to head out Fishing again.
I checked the website fishing still good even under stage 4
No fishing for us under level 4

Been watching and waiting for some cheap but OK brand combos for fishing the salt from the kayak. Picked up this Okuma Zman Z-Series 702ML 30 2-4kg Spin Combo from Anaconda for $59.

Assumed the reel was a 3000 size, as it was listed as a 30 - but it looks more like a 2000. Does okuma do smaller size codes or something?

Okuma seem a bit all over the shop as far as a size convention is concerned from what I have seen but from other companies that use 25, 30, 35 and 40 for their smaller reel sizes the 30 is typically about the same as a shimano 2500. When dealing with brands that use sizing I'm unfamiliar with I find weight and line capacity to be the best quick indication of size and if you want to get into it a bit more handle size is quite handy but can be rather tricky to find on a lot of reels

Like Maz said.
Most reel has specs details on how much line it can hold, drag, etc. I usually just judge it myself by looking at the details, feel the size and weight.

No go get them Geelong's winter red!

By any chance do you know what a 55 size okuma reel is similar to by the more regular sizing? I'd guess a 4000?

Been a long time since I've looked at them but if my memory serves me correctly they are closer to a 6000 from Shimano but I would definitely try to double check that

Thanks both - I did try comparing reel capacity but seemed like every reel I looked at was using a different capacity metric
