The new Exceler and Legalis reels also have the new LT ( Light Tough ) technology as well, seems all new Diawa reels will have it eventually. I mean 190g weight and 10kg of drag in a 3000 size reel is impressive, its small enough for lakes and rivers but can still handle some decent reds in the bay as well if you wanted to.

With 10kg of drag i would just be concerned about the strength of the supporting arm

That's some drag rating and a tonne of bearings. Must be carbon fibre drag stack as standard. Good looking reel. In the shimano Stradic the 2500 and 3000 are the same reel but the 2500 has a shallow spool. I only own 1 daiwa reel, it's a 1500 that I've had for about 20 years and it's still pretty smooth and works well. I've thrown out heaps of shimano reels over the years when they get grindy but I've only started buying their middle-higher end stuff in the last couple of years and they are still going. Even on the FK Stradics I've had to replace 2 line rollers already though.

I have 2 x 2500 and 1 x 3000
Had them for 2 years now.
Never had any issues

Just thought i'd add this pic so you guys can see how small the TD Sol 3000 actually is compared to current reels.
The one on the right is a current Diawa Exceler 3000 as you can see its a big difference, the whole range from 2000 to 6000 have been greatly reduced in size and this new LT technology will find its way onto all future Diawa reels.

I can't believe how small it is compared to a standard 3000 daiwa! bloody awesome! I'm going to have a look at one this week. Thanks Marty!

Thanks heaps Anth :thumbsup: yes its an awesome reel and ive paired it up with the new Td Sol rod but the best Xmas present is having dad home .

Nice one Marty! I've been looking at a Daiwa Sol Baitcaster 6'10' 3-5 kg. Looks like a nice rod for around the 150 mark. I had an original Sol setup with a rod and reel and couldnt fault it. How much did you pay for the rod?

Trellys in Laverton have them for $159 the reel was marked at $479 but I haggled as the recommended retail price when Diawa announced its release was originally $399 so that's what I ended up paying.
