Re: Kingfish charter recommendation
When I learn how to catch them, maybe a few of us can get together on my boat.

I've just booked with Joe Farr for 23rd Monday. Apparently he tries all sorts of techniques. Well fingers crossed!

Re: Kingfish charter recommendation
Your charter operator clearly was a bit clueless then, 8 hours of jigging for no fish!?!snorkly wrote:Hi all, I've been out to kingfish charters twice in the past. Both were exclusively using jigging techniques. Nothing wrong with that (except you'll feel very tired after 6-8 hours of jigging) but at times, if its not working obviously you gotta change your method! So is there any charter recommendation around Melbourne who'll do some live baiting etc. when its necessary? Thanks.
Shouldn't really even be jigging unless there are fish on the sounder. I myself won't even pick up the rod until I've got em on the sounder, and you will know within 10-15 minutes whether they are going to bite on the jigs or not.
Sounds like you got a bit shafted
Re: Kingfish charter recommendation
Was out around the rip yesterday and saw more charters than private boats, counted 11 charters all up all fishing the same area and only saw 2 kingies caught (had one hit for the day) . All the charters that pulled in close to us were all jigging and had some live baits in the rod holders, looked like some very tired boys out there by midday, and one poor bloke hurling his guts up of the front of the deck.

its $200..yeah scott, on my first kingie charter I did at least got 2 rats but last year didn't even had a hit for all that hard work. Truly felt like shafted! At least this year I've done some research to find better charter.
