Hey guys,
I'm headed down to Karkarook Lake tomorrow to try catch some trout with a mate of mine.
I've got all the stuff I need: Floats, Snapshot sinkers and powerbait.
However, do I use a swivel with leader? The lightest line I currently own is 8lb mono which is also the mainline on my rods, should I put a swivel on an run another length of 8lb mono? Should I use 12lb fluoro?
Cheers,
Ham

You need about 20cm leader tied to your swivel on a running sinker rig. Your hook needs to be small and float when attached to powerbait nugget/egg. If your bait sinks then less chance of hook up. Good luck.

running sinker rig. tiny sinker to a small swivel. 1m of 4lb fluoro or lighter if you have it. size 8 hook or smaller. powerbait and/or corn. the powerbait will then float 1m off the bottom away from snags/weed

I've got powerbait and a size 10 trebled hook, also got corn and some SPs. No 4lb fluoro the lightest ive got is 8lb mono, hoping I can still catch something, Will it really matter ?

Trout in there aren't that fussy. 30cm leader is all you really need. Don't need fluoro, mono will do fine. Ive caught them on 15lb mono. Loose lines. Leave a lot of slack, when you see the line go straight then gentle lift and you should be on
