Always nice to mention things , , , , even if some think it is obvious, because to some, it may not be.

I have seen grown men, experience bragging men , , , , break rods by using the "bend in rod" instead of "rod in line" pull.

This is what I do
Trim back the two broken ends to remove all the splintered bits and lightly sand with around 120 grit
Using ab old hollow fibreglass rod i cut a piece out to suit the size of the broken one to go over it not inside as it will just open up
Then use araldite to glue together
Have fixed many rods for mates this way but not the prettiest looking fix but works
