Nice mate
But sounds like it's almost time to hang up the waders and put the box of trout lures away in storage and park your ass in a nice and warm, comfy boat for the rest of your days.
Come join us boat boys in the lazy man's way to fish!

Spot on Gra... all set to go, but may not be so early like it used to be.. still will be cold though..
At this stage it will be the Meander even though it's running at 75 cms at the moment I'm hoping it will drop to 70 cms or lower by the morning.
Below 70 cms is when it's at the safer wading level.. I do know plenty of the safe stretches or water to fish along it when it's above 70 cms, will just have to get out the river & bypass a few of the areas I know aren't safe enough to wade yet.. always can try a small tannin stream or creek too..
cheers
Adrian

Have you ever started off with a huge bang Adrian and started off with one of those dream sessions on your very first day of the season?

Each year the weather pays a big part at the start of the trout season here Lx, the best I've done on the first trip to a river was 14 browns way back in 2011. Good thing is when I have gone on my first trip I've always caught a few trout.... there's been many trout season opening weekends when I haven't even bothered to go out the door due to it being so wet & windy, plus it's still Winter too so the weather is unpredictable..
Not sure how I'll go tomorrow as there's a lot of snow melt coming down the rivers so they're going to be very cold.. There's been mornings when I could only have ten minute stints in the river due to it being so cold, I hop out for around five minutes then get back in and fish another ten minutes & just repeat the same thing over and over.. this is when " SAFETY MUST COME FIRST " do not take any risks, if you're unsure of the river such as it's depth & flow don't get in it. if you take a fall in fast flowing snow water you won't come out alive that's for sure.. My best fish taken at the start of the 2016/17 season went 2.65kgs (5lb 13ozs)
cheers
