Re: EXTINCT FISH SIGHTING BACK FROM THE DEAD
"The fish were safely returned after photos and a small sample from a fin were taken"
Not for long, some hungry trout ,red fin or Cormorant will come along and scoff down the last of the species.
Before they were disturbed they probably had a great hiding spot avoiding the predators.
Now they are dumped in the open.
Well they won't need to amend the original history books as to when they were extinct.

They look like them fighting fish you get from aquariums, I can see why they became extinct. Everyone prob poached them for thier tank, hope they survive.

Re: EXTINCT FISH SIGHTING BACK FROM THE DEAD
They are nothing like those fighting fish you get from aquariums...They also aren’t a good aquarium fish either as they savage all other fish in the tank.
Very pretty fish to look at though.

Re: EXTINCT FISH SIGHTING BACK FROM THE DEAD
Nice to see the fish make a come back if they are, but how did a savage fish, ferocious predator become extinct or near extinct. There must of been bigger predators or are there other factors ????

Re: EXTINCT FISH SIGHTING BACK FROM THE DEAD
Environmental degradation, **** getting pumped into streams, wetlands being drained for farmland, stock eroding banks of streams, introduced predators like trout and redfin

They aren't really ferocious predators, they're just really aggressive. Like put them against a fish 3x their size and they'll still go after it

My observations based upon tank environment,so it could be a different situation in their natural environment.Good to see they are still here thoughwem21 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2019 7:24 amThey aren't really ferocious predators, they're just really aggressive.
