Techniques for the San Remo sandbar?

Hey folks,

Has anyone had any success from fishing from the huge sandbar that pops up in the channel between San Remo and Phillip Island at low tide?

Thought it might be fun to take a wander out there and flick soft plastics over the surrounding flats on the incoming tide.

Heading down there this weekend, any other suggestions? Bait? Tackle? Target species?
