I posted a thread, about a month ago, seeking the opinions of Fiji vs Vanuatu vs other locations for a vacation/fishing holiday this upcoming November. I've been to Vanuatu once before when I was a lot younger and loved it, so from a holiday/chill-out type of perspective I would love to go back. Having just read this fishing report, I know I'll definitely be locking in Vanuatu this November now!!

The missus has her heart set on Fiji, mainly for the (slightly) nicer beaches and reefs, resturaunts, activities and nightlife etc, but I want good fishing so that's going to have to change lol. bad luck for her

Thanks for the clarity in helping me decide!
Haha no sweat mate, any questions about the place just flick me a message!

love Trees & Fishes, very professional outfit.
Seems that marlin on popping gear is quite a frequent occurrence there. I'm hoping to head back there in the next year or two, summer seems the go time, from Nov to end Feb less wind and crazy fishing.
Thanks mate, yep it's a very good operation. Just don't go when there is a cyclone in Fiji like us ha! The fish were really shut down, we worked hard for them in very average conditions. Can only imagine what it's like when the weather is nice and the fish are on.

So did you guys hire boats, go out on charters, or have friends/family/contacts in Vanuatu who supplied the vessels? Also i think I remember you saying in an earlier blog that you take your own gear and tackle when you go on most of your trips, what gear you guys using in this instance? It looks like you are using a 10000? gossa in one of the pics which would make any marlin fight, incredibly fun but also incredibly challenging (unless you took even heavier gear like tiagras, that isn't pictured)

Great report and fantastic photos. That’s how a report is written! Always good reading a report and seeing photos. You’ve raised the bar! What sort of camera are you using?
