10 lb Carp Caught On Spinner

Post by meppstas » Tue Oct 01, 2013 9:48 pm

Was just on the mepps.com site checking out the testimonials on it and seeing what's been caught in the rest of the world when I came across this fishermans testimonial of catching this 10 lb Carp on a #1 Mepps Aglia dressed (fur tail on treble) copper spinner. He was spinning for Bass in New York, USA when he spotted the fish so he flicked the spinner out near it and to his surprise it took it. He said it took 50 minutes to land as well.
cheers
Adrian

It took him 50 minutes to land??? How light gear was he using, on 1-4 kg rods a 5 kg carp would be on the bank in 5mins

Here's what I found of his report:
My Story,
Had a good day catching Smallmouth and a few largemouths with spinners on 6 pound monofilament. On my way out made a few casts to a carp and it took it. 50 minutes later landed my first carp on a spinner, a monster!

Catch Information
Caught at: Croton Falls Reservoir
State: New York
Country: United States

Yeh! on 6lb line, did take a long time didn't it.
cheers

i've caught a 12lb carp on 6lb mono it was on the bank in well under 10 minutes. so i think 50 minutes is a bit extreme.
