We’re you out there on Saturday as well?

Skirts got em early, but when on the surface the soft plastics provided the most fish, just took some persistence.

This weekend I had another opportunity to go out fishing for kingies with Scott in the extreme game king 695.
An early start see us in the kingfish grounds just past first light.

We started trolling some lures and not even 5 mins in and one of the rods buckled over. I was the lucky guy standing right next to it. So I grabbed the stella and got my first ever legal king. He was no match for the heavy drag on the stella.
Measured just over 63cm.

Next rod went off about 10 mins later and I got another one which was just shy of being legal. So we released him. Another 10min later another rod goes off and it was another mates turn . Another undersized rat.

At this stage there's fish right underneath the boat so I drop a jig down and the very first jig I come up tight and line starts peeling. The PE 2-4 veritas is bent over beautifully and the BG4000 is singing away even on some decent drag pressure. This fish is even bigger than the last one...

We then see surface activity like I've never seen before.

A quick cast into the monstrous school and the plastic gets inhaled. The PPB snapper lure combo gets a good flogging. The 14lb leader holds up and up pops an even bigger fish. Gotta be happy with that.

The plastics are getting some serious attention while the other guys are focusing on bigger stickbaits and poppers etc.
Another 20 mins of casting at these massive schools and the lure gets belted again. This was good enough reason for the other 2 on board to change to plastics.
I land another fish while the Scott and mate Anthony are also hooked up landing few more fish. Scott lands a ripper fish on a monstrous plastic soon after that again.

Between all this mayhem my lure gets absolutely smashed. The daiwa 3-6kg commander armouraider is bent over like I've never seen it before. The reel seat is flexing sideways and the sienna 4000 is screaming away. It didn't last long though. The hooks pulled and the fish got its freedom. Was def. The fish of the day.

We keep trying to entice some more bites. But they would just follow the lures and turn away .

We land a few more fish eventually and call it a day.
Ended up with 7 keepers and about 3 or 4 throw backs.

Thanks once again for the great time Scott. Another species ticked off the list.
Well done guys seems like Welshpool is on fire for kings this year. Where was the persistence seems like the day went smoothly.

Only Friday as I had to work Saturday.

I had one small skirt out and I think we had a hit be no hook up. The others were on squid strips, but I think we had them a little too big, had two hits but no hook up.

It was only today I thought about using one of the small chrome lures from Busted the 45 gram and 25 gram ones.

Persistence from the last few Busted off trips. i knew i would get one eventually!
This time i managed to keep one on the line long enough to be netted :-D
These fish were quite hard to tempt on Topwater Though so a lot of persisting involved trying different things to get them to commit stickbaits, plastics, slugs, poppers i tried everything...
