Winter is the time to stock up on squid heads and from around the end of August is the time to catch silver whiting in Corio bay vac sealed and ready for snapper season
There are plenty of yakka in southern ppb at the moment
I've always been a bit lazy when it comes to catching bait....this might be the season where I start collecting my own (store/servo bough stuff is sh!t).
Anyone got any tips on the best sabiki rigs and vac sealers?

There are plenty of Tackle stores that sell good quality Pilchards, no need to go to servos. I've never had a problem catching fish with good quality frozen pilchards, actually, some of the best catches have come from stinky pilchards that have been re frozen a few times.

I found the tackle stores are really hit and miss....old pilchards loose their shine and fall apart too easily when putting them on a hook.

I get mine from Hooked on bait and tackle, very good pillies there. The fish market at Werribee plazza always has fresh Pilchrds but don't know if they are local, I imagine thay would be

I have been using a aldi vac sealer and vac rolls for 4yrs and no problems both on sale tomorrow as for sabiki rigs just buy from ebay cheap as chips and after one use chuck away they rust quick and crap to store
