Live carp sales in Springvale?

Post by Deeky » Thu Oct 09, 2014 11:53 am

I was in Springvale the other day and at a fish stall in a big container approximately 1000 litres, they had live carp for sale. Fairly big ones too, I thought this was illegal?

Definitely looked like carp and the sign said "Live Carp", I did not take a picture though

DPI website states:

Once declared as noxious, people must not bring these species into the state, nor take, hatch, keep, possess, sell, transport, put into any container or release into protected waters any declared noxious aquatic species (unless otherwise authorised by permit). A number of offences have been created relating to noxious aquatic species in Victoria.

They probably in an Asian type store.
I think they are either barramundi or that cheap farmed fish called BASA

EDIT : OR NONE OF THE ABOVE.
But I be surprised that they be carp.

EDIT Again : hmmm - I been bagging members for not reading the posts and I flamen done it now.
O.P said The shop had a sign sayin "Live Carp".
They were carp then.
And I get back in my hole.
