Does any know if using cheese as bait kills muray cod?

Is this an urban myth or fact?

Cheers!

I reckon that Blue Vein one might.
And that stinkin' Gorgonzola one definitely will.
But the usually used Bega is fine.
I've eaten it on many occasions so can't see why a fish would suffer.

They say it's bad for cod because they can't digest it. However, a cod can regurgitate anything it can't digest, such as a golf ball commonly found in cod.

So myth

I have a baby cod in a tank and it will eat cheese. It is still alive and healthy I don't feed it cheese often but do every now and again.
I do use cheese fishing.
cheers

Just asking...If a golf ball is commonly found in Cod, doesn't that mean it cant digest or regurgitate it?

Must be getting close to dinner, as this post is making me hungry!

Not sure about the cod and cheese issue, but I'm tempted to try it.

When I use to keep a few cod they had golf balls inside them

When I use to use springers as a kid we use to use bait like swollows, teal ducks,Duck eggs or anything live we could find.

Big cod ate the lot....they are a natural scavenger.

My night time fishing is based on this theory...thats why the surface lures work so good this time of year.

A cod will allways take a easy target...so many times it takes a easy food source ...

Just means he hasn't gotten around to regurgitating it yet

Yes I have to agree, I know of a woman who ran out of bait and used a bbq'd chop as bait and landed a very good cod, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them
