Thread for members to promote their business?
Hi
Was wondering if it would be worthwhile starting a thread for ACTIVE MEMBERS to place a one - off post promoting their business / workplace? I will happily delete any unworthy posters!
thanks
Jim

I think that decision should be made by Jon. I think it is common courtesy to ask permission before trying to promote your business through another business.

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Re: Thread for members to promote their business?
That's why I put this thread in the 'Suggestions & Feedback' section. What made me think of it? - some of us do it on our 'signatures' at the moment anyway. I do understand you point as well Steve. This was just a suggestion that I thought may help out some members. For the record, I do not have anything to promote!!!!Boonanza wrote:I think that decision should be made by Jon. What I do find annoying is 'first - posters' coming on and promoting things. If the thread did go ahead they could still be required to obtain permission from Jon.
All I would expect of this is for an active individual to post something like..." Hi, I'm a plumber in the northern suburbs...pm me for a job quote etc" This may help out some other members. Sort of like the classifieds that we have.
Obviously this may not be a good idea or perhaps I should have pm'd Jon with the idea - too late for that now :D
thanks
Jim
Edit: Davek was on the mark with my main objective

To make it public I confirmed with Jon before adding the details to my signature.
I'm for the thread. I recently was chasing a graphic designer. i would've checked such a thread for those details (i found one through facebook)

I think this would be a fantastic idea. It would be a win win situation for everyone. As long as the people who promote their own business are willing to be active, social and helpful within the rest of the site!

I would not want any direct links to websites.
If you want to display your name and phone number on a public forum, then that's your choice.
What do you suggest would be an appropriate thread title for members to do this to contain the information in one area?

What if it was placed in the members section where you can optionally enter your name, occupation and phone number if you wish to...totally up to the individual and only viewed by members.

Re: Thread for members to promote their business?
I'm for it , but i think maybe bizzo's should be VIP members to be able to post an advertisement. Although anyone being able to view the adds.
$5 (VIP) isn't much at all to be able to advertise. Although i'm good for most things free here and there , free advertising will draw in unwanted traffic like flys to a pile of $hit.
With this option you would probably only get genuine VIP users of this fishing website advertising , and genuine bizzo's.
Free advertising is just asking for trouble imo , and $5 isn't much to ask of a genuine business imo / for advertising on this website which gets alot of users.
Cheers , Rik
