Amount of forum sections and sub-sections
Hey guys. I'm just wondering if anyone else finds the sheer amount of sections and sub-sections of this forum a bit confusing? There's somewhere in the vicinity of 57 forums sections and around 50 sub-sections within those sections. I know it means that reports for example are totally narrowed down to a small area. But in the 100kms of beach from the CBD to Portsea theres 20 subsections of the forum in the reports alone. A snapper fish in the bay leaving patto could easily cover 5 sub-sections.
I'm not suggesting any changes, the forum is doing very well in it's current state I'm just interested in other peoples opinions.

Re: Amount of forum sections and sub-sections
I am happy to narrow down and clean up the list of sub-forums if anyone can come up with some suggestions for easier navigation.

Re: Amount of forum sections and sub-sections
I think a simple start would just be to combine a few suburbs/sections that are close to each other separated by the major boat ramps. cover CBD-St Kilda, Elwood - Mordy, Chelsea - Frankston, Mornington/Mt Eliza - Dromana, Mcrae - Pt Nepean.
That's 20 subsections cut down to 5 whilst still being not a massive distance between each end of the sections.

Re: Amount of forum sections and sub-sections
for the fishing reports maybe instead of sub sections there can be prefixes for specific area in the topic names. I think it would take out alot of the subforums and still keep it easy to seach.

I think whilst we are rearranging, subforum - Murray and surrounds currently situated in 'Other Victorian Fishing Reports' may be moved to NSW? As the Murray requires a NSW license.

How about a section just for actual FISHING REPORTS ONLY. Cheers Lyall.

Re: Amount of forum sections and sub-sections
yes please.
too confusing atm and easy to make mistakes.
duckys idea is good, seperating WPB and PPB is always a good start, along with seperating the Mornington peninsula from the rest of PPB. also maybe another idea to get rid of all the sub forums, and have a sort of FIELD setup where you have to eneter the area (from a drop down menu which can then cover the subforums) where the fish was caught thereby eliminating different threads for different piers/areas, just a suggestion
simple is always best.
cheers

Re: Amount of forum sections and sub-sections
To give you some feedback, i post most of my reports in the "General salt water fishing" page.
If i want to, then in my post, I will mention the location.

I think get rid of all these locations and list it as either 'Saltwater Reports' or 'Freshwater Reports.' Nice and simple.
