Overnighting in westernport

Post by scott__henning » Thu Oct 23, 2014 3:57 pm

Hi all, Ive decided that the weather looks much better for westernport than it does for welshpool this friday night, so im going to head up and give it a crack.

Ive fished westernport a few times before and know my way around mostly so I'm keen to give it a good crack at night.
I intend to fish up towards Spit Point(think thats what its called) and I was wondering if there are any good areas around there to anchor up for a snooze.
From what I can see it looks to be a southerly most of the night so I would assume there would be ample places to anchor for the night?

Any help would be appreciated!

For anyone's interest sitting around the top of spit point in the channel that hugs the island proved to be quite comfortable

Didn't get a touch all night, at least the wind eased off at around 10pm.

Got a gummy and 1 snapper at lunchtime today around Elizabeth Island, a last minute save from a donut haha. Weather was great today at least!

The seafarer had probably a little more space in the cabin so was a little bit more comfortable than the extreme for overnighters, but it still does the job good, the roller door really helps keep it warm in there as well.

I launched at rhyll, I haven't really been to any of the other ramps so I didnt know how good they were, though if corinella is a good ramp I should really launch from there in future, much less travel haha
