Fair enough ,I've never caught a southern sea carp or even heard of one. But I recon' those parrot fish are about the last fish I want to catch on a line , I put them up there as much as a pest as toadfish.

Wrasse. Turn to s##t when cooked, passable sashshimi allegedly..normally just a bloody pest, they grab your bait then head for their hidey hole. If your not quick off the mark, your rig is gone.
Did you keep this without knowing what it was, or throw it back...?
