Blennys seem to have 1 long dorsal fin as opposed to 2 separate fins on the dorsal region in your pic! That rules out blennys!!

Ah yes, the tail does look different to a gurnard , the rest looked the same. It almost looks like one of those 'Rockskipper' fish that live in the shallows amongst the rocks/coral ? .
I've never seen one that big though / if that's what is ( although I doubt it ? ) Strange...

Although, it still could maybe be a baby Gurnard ? ( I've never seen a baby/ small one / so I don't know how their tail looks when young ? ) , but they do have blue and yellow in the large side fins as adults / and it looks similar.

Cheers , Rick.

Actually very close to the shape of a goby , although they are more of a freshwater fish. The only type of Goby I know of (Sirajo Goby) that has close to the same shape ,even the same tail shape / in the below picture, but as I mentioned this is more of a freshwater fish; and apart from the tail shape , it doesn't look very much like the fish species in question.

Still , it could be anything really ? , there's old species dying becoming extinct all the time, and new species popping up all the time in the animal kingdom.

Goby. Boby shape is spot on, and there are bloody thousands of different species, bulk of them marine. Interesting you point out that freshwater one Rixter, never seen a freshwater Goby..many thanks for that..!
Ps, have caught a couple back in the uk, got one in Blyth Harbour many years ago, big bugger, would have been over 250mm long..
