Last night there probably wouldn't have been much, though the normal slugs don't cast as far as the busted does. whats the difference in catch rate between the busted and a normal slug in the same weight?
I've rigged them with an FG to about 70 to 80cm of mono leader, then a clip to the lure. Just curious do you use a leader or tie the lure straight to braid ?

Yes, I've smoked a few smaller ones and they were OK but I'd only resort to that if I couldn't rustle up something tastier. Likewise with the fish cakes. Up here in my neck of the woods I can readily catch something more palatable to make fish cakes out of. My wife says " don't you bring home another bloody salmon" - so I don't!
