The OTG cast wasn't done at a world event so whilst a massive distance isn't recognised as an "official" world record where after the cast the lines are all measured for diameter and samples submitted for verification etc. The cast was done at the NESA monthly comp Jamie Blakeman a top block and caster.

I might want to have a crack at this, coming from a Javelin background, should I be alright? I usually cast sideways with a javelin throw type motion anyways when spinning at the beach

Anyone with Javelin experience will pick up on the techniques quite fast.
