I have caught them in the surf kilcunda beach r/h side near the rocks

I have caught a couple of smaller ones and this one while surf fishing for gummies near kilcunda
If you're serious about targeting reds from the beach I would suggest having a look around Anglesea, might have to go wading out on a low tide though but the bycatch could even be silver ;-)

I forgot about the pinkie I caught off the beach at Shoreham last year. The occy was a bit of a surprise too

I've seen guys catch em of kilcunda beach before to I think it just takes lots or trial and erra and patience!

Also forgot to add my part: like others have said beaches with a bit of reef are your best bet. Most snapper I've caught or seen taken from the surf are in that 30-40cm range. I know that the occasional legit snapper is taken from Jan Juc...

Also Narrawong apparently has a great reputation for big red. Never fished there myself.
