Well done - that beach is a real ball-breaker.

It should change its name to "Donut Beach" - easier to spell that Gunna-wotzit and far more apt...

But the real truth is, is that you have to be there when the salmon are there.

How do you do that?

That is the question?

Thanks for all the comments. It was advice from you guys on this forum which helped me get that first fish. :a_goodjob:
Basti wrote:gunners swell can be pretty hairy. i try not to turn my back to the surf down there if it's rough. well done on your catch but next time if you drop a fish in the shallows cut your losses and just recast. you'll have more chance of hooking up to another in the school than recovering the lost fish. it's a lot drier method too.
I told the wife we would definitely have won Funniest Home Videos if she had been there filming - could have cued it up with Benny Hill music.
I looked at the tide times later on and saw it was coming in all the time I was there - really have to respect that ocean - all definitely a learning experience.

I think I might have done that as well. :(

What do you reckon the deal is with the snags I've had? It's painful on the wallet throwing away $7 - $8 (+ postage) lures every 2nd trip. Are there rocks on the bottom all the way along? Am I doing something wrong - maybe you have to reel in faster at lower tides? I thought I'd be pretty right between the stairs and the first visible rocks that hit the beach towards the lighthouse.

I've never snagged up there (except at the rocks right right up the end)
Not really sure how you're doing it? Can you feel the lure dragging on the sand?
