This is the most treacherous beach i've seen in Victoria. Treat the water with respect.

You are right, as I said in my earlier post.
Stupid as it sounds, that to me is part of it's appeal.
Nothing comes easy at Johanna.

It’s also a terrifying place to surf. Heavy water.

The camp ground is regularly mowed and quite clean, I pitched my tent on flat ground no problem, Johanna Beach Campground has 25 sites. There are non-flush toilets and no showers. Campers must provide their own drinking water. Camp ground to beach is a 5 to 15 minute walk on flat ground all the way till the sand dunes which are small. To the right of the camp are huge cliffs, in summer the beach is popular for swimmers, I caught mullet in between the swimmers ! you need to take everything, shelter, food, water, fish freezing fridge of some kind to keep things cold, insect repellent. I took a 6x4 cage trailer with canopy, Closest town for supplies is Apollo bay. This beach can be as flat as Port Phillip OR Dangerous to the point of you being washed away in the surge, use common sense on how far to be in the water depending on the conditions.

Fished Johanna at sunrise on Sunday June 28th. Though being there early I would have my pick of gutter - must have been 20+ rods out by the time I got there. Found my own space on the right hand side. 2 hours later and I had 2 keepers - both at approx 40cm. Not the best day ever, but enough action to make it worth while.
