Reports off Frankston Pier around sunset but you need to bring your own flak jacket it gets preery hairy at times.

I hooked one by accident last week on my yak just out(500m) from sorrento pier on my way back to BG. I thought I had my squid jigs clipped into the rods while i was paddling then suddenly felt like I stopped I turned around to see one of my rods buckled over with line peeling off. I picked the rod out of the holder and the fish jumped twice and threw the size 3.5 30gm deep diving jig. It bent one of the pins out! It was getting dark so i had to make my way back and couldnt stop to fish for them.

Round 2. Headed out on tuesday arvo from bg with 3 rods in a spread trolling(paddling at walking pace) small HB and even went thru a patch of birds working an area and couldnt get a take.
Lesson to be learned use XL squid jigs for salmon, not salmon lures  hahaha
When I got time,
I wet a line cos Im a junkie,
been fishin since a kid,
I like it cos it numbs me..

Dont go to frankston pier, not at sunset when there have been reports of salmon, you might die!

It is Hectik down there, been there 5 times, 2 times sunrise and 3 times sunset and even at sunrise there are 10 or so people spinning there although i haven't seen any hook ups at sunrise.

Been reading of good salmon from patterson river to mt martha.

I Caught 2 from frankston Pier, 40-60 gram Slugs are what seems to be Catching them At frankston much to my surprise as they are only 30-40cm salmon.

Cheers.

Whisper is that the birds are working schools of tommy rough. There has a been a few schools of sambos off the breakwall at BG in the last week though(I have heard).

Plenty of salmon schools between the heads and popes eye, and lots of tommy rough around .
