Do salmons take poppers off the piers? like at lagoon pier or any of those pier at Port Melbourne? been losing alot of tackle due those snags
PS Im talking about the pilchard ones not the ones with feathers on them

They take them in the surf.
Even from a pier, if the baitfish are on / or near the surface, then there will be sambo's up there too feeding on them (if it's hot action), and would take a popper I recon' , it's worth a try anyway.
If your tossing metal slugs and getting snagged, flick over the bail arm and start winding back in just before the lure hits the water.
This will stop the lure sinking so deep before retrieving it, hopefully eliminating your snag problem.

They would work at times but its probably better just to to use plastics.

lagoon is full of snags, been there 4 trips lost 1 each trip, 1 of them took a tt switchblade :<
