Fishing with Kostas and Manos

Post by Mick.S » Mon Mar 19, 2012 8:37 am

Arranged to take Kostas and Manos (Greek casting and fishing friends, holidaying in Australia at the moment) fishing, down at my local fishing spot. The plan was to meet the boys at the train station, as there were coming in from the city and then head down to the bay.
As predicted the wind was quite strong and cold, blowing south-west about 20-25knots and made fishing at times difficult and unpleasant. 2-hours into fishing Manos decided to head back home, as he was finding the wind unbearable and unpleasant  .

As soon as the cover of darkens came down, Kostas and I were right into it. The fish were on the bite once again and in the end Kostas bagged out about 8-9 pinkies in total. 3 of those we decided to keep.

In addition, had one very good hit, that simply just took-off and never stopped. Without the drag off, it simple cut off the braid line and 50lbs mono shock-leader.

Once we decided to pack-up and head home, we had the opportunity to talk to another 2 guys (fellow fishos) who where fishing not far from us, and our fishing discussion spanned-off into surfcasting, rigs etc etc, and they were simple blown away by the pendulam cast :), the rigs, equipment etc.

From then on it was a drive back to the city to drop Kostas off at his hotel and then drive back home to get some sleep. It was a pleasure to see Kostas with the a big smile on his face. Couldn't have planned a better night.
