FishnMiss, I clicked "like" because I agree with what you actually meant with your referencing "ignorant people" and "blindly following". I did take a little liberty with my previous post but more to make a point of even "informed" people have the "stay at home" stance. The ignorant ones give a bad name and derogate the integrity of the legitimate argument of "stay home"

I like to make my own mind up with what is presented in-front of me, as many do (but maybe not all do).

On Ben Shapiro, I like him (so does my 16 year old Son and his mates), and I like him a lot. He may be a conservative right winger but he uses fact and logic in-lieu of emotive argument, which makes him a good advocate.

This is the first thing I have seen of Ben Shapiro where he condescendingly applies an incorrect parallel to make a loose argument. The Black Plague.

The Black Plague was in the 1350s, where personal hygiene was extremely poor, public utilities included discarding your toilet contents on the streets etc etc. All of which are conducive to the spread of any infectious disease. We know better now, and improvements just in that alone reduces transmission dramatically.

Also the analogy of Numerator and Denominator is also a false parallel. The same argument that Dr Jayanta uses to diminish the Denominator (people contracting COVID-19) would also be applicable to the to the Flu (Denominator) but ignored. In other words, both statistical data groups are affected by the same principle but ignored for the Flu statistics to make that statistic sound better for the Dr's argument which is bias against COVID-19

The Dr's Numerator/Denominator analogy applied to Italy works out to be about 10%, applied to the entire world is 4.6% , , , , shoots his argument down.

Time shall prove Dr Jaytanta wrong BUT by then the world would have more important things to do (like put the world back together) than to hold a loose cannon to account for diminishing the situation. And ironically, if the world actually "fixes" the human factor, The Dr would vindicate his statements rather than acknowledging the herculean effort by the world actually achieved a positive result clinically.

2 types of people currently.

Those who can follow simple instructions and those that can't.

Not sure how the second type manage to keep a job or survive with such a major defect.

Actually, the top British Epidemiological specialist advising the British government has also downgraded the severity of this Virus.
I think though, the concept of testing Antibodies is a different thought pattern to what most are saying, hopefully he's correct.
Either way, no harm to observe social distancing and other protocols to protect those at risk.

Absolutely zero evidence of abuse or condemnation of the roughly 100 people who walked or rode past me in those 5 hours....
This is absolutely what i dont get is the imbalance, and lack of clarity as to what is regarded as necessary exercise, and what is essentially luxury exercise. The family day out is still in full swing..If they are going to shut down the beaches they need to shut down the esplanades. Consistency gets respect....

This sums it up pretty well I think

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-03-28/ ... g/12099294

In some of the strongest language seen from Australian health authorities so far, Professor Sutton issued a stark warning on Saturday afternoon.

"Some of the behaviour today — when we're asking people to stay home — has been really crap," Professor Sutton said on Twitter.

"It's hard to change habits and it's hard to see dangers that aren't apparent yet.

"But with 3,000 cases of COVID in Australia this week, we're headed to 100,000 in two to three weeks without change.

"That means thousands of deaths. Overwhelmed health services. Medical staff at unacceptable risk. Unstoppable spread.

"Do the right thing now and #StayAtHome. Today. Tomorrow. Until we're through this, please."

Virtue signalling ..... nurses,Doctors and hospital staff are currently preparing for absolute disaster where tough decisions will have to be made as in who gets medical support and who doesn’t based on likelyhood of survival. A decision they don’t want to make but will be forced too if people don’t observe and follow instructions given by government.

The ramps on the island were busy yesterday despite the request to forego boating by VRFish and Marine Safety Victoria. This virus is so contagious that authorities don’t want to risk any transfer by unnecessary activities. Using ramp facilities such as toilets/cleaning activities and the social interaction are other reasons why they want people to stay home. So people can make a small sacrifice and forego much loved recreational activities or you can put tough decisions in doctors and nurses hands on who survives and who dies a painful death struggling to breath alone without any loved ones to comfort you in your final moments.

This virtue signalling is a polite plea to not put them in the shittest possible situation in their profession.
This is a warning regarding the following post made by you: viewtopic.php?f=14&p=349277#p349277 .
Any form of bullying on this forum will NOT BE TOLERATED!

This is your last warning!
